Mother's Song (Blue Lion)

Recorded New Year’s Eve, December 31st, 2020. With love for all. Thumbnail from the National Tile Museum in Lisbon.

There are certain warm sounds that I’ve been craving as I’ve gone around these cold echoes, cold echoes. There are warm sounds that I’ve been craving like sunshine in my inner caves. There are warm arms I can sense around me.

I have been watching for you. I have been watching. I have been needing your love. Filling out my heart. Opening up my doors, opening up.

I wonder can it just go on like this? How long without some reminder of the bliss? I suppose I can really dig into this. I suppose it has its own extremity and I can taste it. I can love this space, this corner of your body, this portion of your being, it’s mine to love. This corner of the atlas, it’s mine to love. This portion of your shoulder, it’s mine to love.

Are you surprised by your great capacity to endure? We’re not surprised by anything about you, it’s you that wants to be surprised. It’s you that wants to be surprised! And you will be recognized in due time. You will recognize your own eyes. You will recognize your own eyes, with your own, with your own eyes.

This is your body, too. This is your home. This is your shoulder, that you loved to the bone. These are your songs, that sing the structures back to your own. You can recreate what you know, and have always known.

You were there when the first bones were grown. You were there when the first ones were born. You strung your own arms around the branches you grew. You left your own arms around the world to hold it. You left your own warmth to linger on its cheek. You left your own voices, so they could speak. You left your own hills, so they would not feel so alone without you.

Take your time to remember, love. It’s too much to remember all at once. You were here to teach them songs of love. You were here to reflect to them the geometry of above. To show them what is love. To hold them in your heart. To hold them in your body, to hold them safe from harm.

But they were harmed, and so were you. They were taken from your paws. They were taken from you. They were taken from your arms, they were taken right out of you.

Take your time to remember. It’s too much to remember all at once.
