To the Dark Ones
If you had the chance to say something to the negative forces in our world, what would you say to them? Would your words be gentle or hard? What would your goal in speaking to them be? What kind of a relationship do you have with them? How do you feel towards them? What is your personal history with them?
My invitation to you:
Turn your message to the dark ones into art.
Start with a free write to get everything off your chest. Then shape your message, into lyrics to a song, to a poem, piece of prose, or creative nonfiction. Use metaphors, similes, meter and rhyme as desired.
When you’ve completed your piece, think about whether and how this message could be delivered, if it indeed should be. Is it a secret, encrypted piece, coded to be recognized only by others who know exactly what you’re talking about? Is it anonymous? Your personal testament to be signed, sealed and delivered? Is it designed to get attention, to shock or waken people to your experience? Could you imagine the dark ones hearing or receiving your message? What might that feel like for you?
My example below.
Much love,
~Holly Mae
I can think of no more lawless deed
than to take a changeling child out of the wild they need
you can try to keep us hidden, make our languages forbidden
we will only find a way to keep on growing underground
though we’re weak and we are furtive we cannot help but surface
no matter what has hurt us, we have faces
and you cannot make us disobey the rule
of what does rule us in our deepest nature
you took us from the forest, little bulbs of stolen crocus
suckled us at your breast until we loved you helpless
what of my bright iris you ate for the mouth of Isis
so I’d recite your verses and I’d live out your curse
Admit that you have grown old from consuming the gold of others
devil-enchanted mother oak you are
when you finally crash down, that’s when we green and crown
at last receive some sunlight on our leaves
Because you needed it we gave you our breath
because you asked for it we gave you our death
because your stars went out we gave you our sun
because you broke our hearts we gave you our love
